Avast ultimate is a security program with a high detection rate and fantastic extra features. Its malware scanner scored 100% in my tests, and its web protection blocked many phishing sites that managed to get past Chrome and Firefox’s default security features. Other features include a Rescue Disk and a secure browser that can be used for online banking and shopping. Advanced tracking blockers are also included.
The suite’s user interface is easy to navigate. The main screen displays an overview of its primary tools, and includes clear icons that explain their purpose. Avast uses an orange blue and white color scheme that is pleasing to the eye and easy to read.
You will find the precise controls for each tool within the Explore menu. This includes custom scans such as boot time scanning and an automatic updater. You can also save certain types of scans in the “Scan Center”, so you can run them again at a later time.
Avast’s advanced features help protect against ransomware by watching your computer for suspicious activities, and encrypting files that could have been targeted. It can detect trojan horses (malicious software that disguises itself as legitimate software that enter your computer) and prevent them from running.
