ESET offers a range of plans for Windows, macOS and Android. There’s a free version that offers basic security. The more expensive plans offer features like parental controls, password management, and encryption of data. The most expensive plan includes a gaming mode that will block unauthorized access to your computer’s hardware when you play.

Installation is quick and easy. It doesn’t bludgeon your computer with unnecessary software, neither. There are a few extra settings to tweak however, the majority of features and tools are clearly identified on the left-hand sidebar.

A new feature called Connected Home Monitor is an excellent visual representation of your network as well as all devices that are connected to it. It can be used to check your network for weaknesses such as open ports or weak router passwords.

Another notable feature is a pop-up which appears every time you insert the USB storage device. You can scan the drive immediately, or set it to scan on a regular basis. If you don’t want to scan the entire drive, you may perform an on-demand scan.

Advanced users will appreciate the possibility to tweak the way and what the suite scans. You can specify the number of folders and files which the program should scan, as well as specific items such as boot sectors and networks. You can even specify the depth at which the program should go through archives, if you want to exclude certain kinds of files from the initial scan.
